Problem Area
When a user offers to buy a ticket (placing a bid), it is considered a final sale when another user matches that bid. This causes high confusion as users assume that there will be a secondary confirmation although not the case.

The bidding flow needed just the right amount of friction to ensure users are aware of the final sale.

Decision making
The proper area to increase friction would be between placing the bid and the bid being matched. This is because adding friction after a bid is matched would require the seller to log back into the platform and confirm the sale, adding an unnecessary flow which might hinder sales. Adding friction between placing a bid and a bid match only require both seller and buyer to go through one user flow.

✅ Shorter flow
❌ Small UI real estate increases ignoring
❌ Not enough friction/urgency
❌ Too similar to existing page

Problem Area
Problem Area
The past artist page has high cognitive overload and received feedback that it is dated. Each artist page also has differing available information. For example, in the current page if there are no upcoming events there will just be an empty right column leaving the page UI imbalanced.

The priority lies in reducing cognitive overload and make the artist page up to date with competing platforms. Each artist also has differing available information thus the formatting has to be adaptive to each use case.

Iterations
Iterations
The initial iterations focused on streamlining the information hierarchy by reducing the columns to 2. These 2 columns are also separated into music information on the left and artist information on the right. With this staggered approach, each component can be taken out or put in at any time. An important feature, upcoming events, was also made into a carousel to ensure it is able to fit as many events without overloading the page.
✅ Adaptable layout
✅ Corrected information hierarchy
✅ Reduced cognitive load

Final Implementation
The final implementation adopts the staggered 2 column approach but introduces a refreshed UI to keep up with the design of the website.

I practiced making fast and confident design decisions within an established design system
I became comfortable entering the design process mid-stream, picking up problem areas on a whim even if it means skipping low fidelity stages
I developed an eye for business-design alignment within UX and social media functions to reflect CrowdVolt's brand positioning and audience

Special thanks to the CrowdVolt team and stay tuned for more features and designs to come!
